Library Celebrates 60th Anniversary of March on Washington With Special Programming for All
The Ferguson Library is hosting a variety of special events through August 28 to mark the 60 years since the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, when a quarter of a million people rallied to demand an end to segregation as well as fair wages, voting rights and civil rights protections. Kids Events for Library's 60th Anniversary Celebration of the March on Washington
Join us for a screening and discussion of the animated film based on the 2008 picture book March On! by Christine King Farris, giving her account of the March and the impact of the "I Have a Dream" speech delivered by her brother, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This family event will be held Saturday, August 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Main Library and Saturday, August 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the South End Branch.
Community Input Wanted for City of Stamford's Parks Strategic Plan
In an effort to manage and invest in the sustainability of Stamford's parks, beaches and trails, the City of Stamford recently launched its Parks Strategic Plan, which will prioritize the operation and development of Stamford's more than 50 green spaces, building the roadmap for making Stamford a more resilient and sustainable community.

Library Commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington
New Books in Turkish for Kids
The Youth Services department would like to recognize Defne and Berna of the Merih family for their generous donation of books for children in Turkish! More than 200 new titles have been added to the Juvenile World Languages Collection at the Main Library so stop in and find your next great read.

Exhibit at the Library: A Brief History of Voting Rights in the U.S.
As the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom approaches, the Ferguson Library is currently displaying the exhibit, Who Can Vote? A Brief History of Voting Rights in the U.S. Made up of seven panels, the exhibit examines voting rights with an emphasis on the role of the U.S. Constitution and the interplay between the states and federal government in determining who is allowed to vote. It will remain on view through August 21.
Free Blood Pressure Management Course
The City of Stamford Department of Health will offer a free six-week blood pressure management course to Stamford residents who have high blood pressure, take medications to control high blood pressure, or care for someone who has high blood pressure. Connecticut Summer at the Museum 2023: Free Admission for Kids
It’s time to explore! Starting now through September 4, Connecticut children ages 18 and younger, with one accompanying state resident adult, can visit participating museums free of charge through the Connecticut Summer at the Museum (CSM) program. Support Literacy and Learning Over the Summer
Stamford Cradle to Career, Family Centers and Stamford Public Schools, in partnership with the Ferguson Library, will host literacy workshops at the Harry Bennett Branch July 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and at the Main Library July 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

From fruits to veggies to nachos to ice cream, we love it all! Come in and check out a book or cookbook featuring your favorite summer snacks! Learn about the history of some of our favorite foods or try something new. Let us know how you celebrate summer with your favorite snacks!
Children's Learning Centers Now Enrolling
The Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County (CLCFC), which offers affordable early childhood education and care, is currently enrolling for its pre-K programs in the fall. CLCFC, with various locations in Stamford, offers financial assistance based on eligibility in addition to daily breakfast, lunch and snack at no additional cost.
Adult Summer Reading Is Back!
Find Your Voice is the theme for the Ferguson Library's Adult Summer Reading Program, where you can express yourself by exploring programs that introduce you to new books, authors, experiences and creative outlets.
