Outreach Services at the Library
The Ferguson Library is dedicated to bringing resources and programs beyond our walls to engage, educate, and enrich the diverse communities we serve. From literacy initiatives to cultural events and mobile library services, we are here to meet you where you are. The Ferguson’s beloved Purple Bus brings school children to the library, some for the very first time. The Purple Bus program is funded by the Friends of The Ferguson Library.
We mail out books for extended loan periods and include a return mailing envelope for Stamford residents who are unable to leave home. To request this service please contact 203 351-8225.
Every spring our Youth Services staff visits each of Stamford’s public schools to promote participation in the library’s Summer Reading Club.
We bring books on a regular basis to Stamford senior living facilities, making sure to keep their collections current. For information please call 203 351-8290.
The library has a presence at the many community events held in Stamford throughout the year with an information table, book give-away, serving as a Wi-Fi hotspot, or providing other valuable services.
Bookmobile
The Bookmobile is the library’s traveling branch, visiting pre-schools, community centers and neighborhoods where the library does not have a presence. The Bookmobile often participates in community events and with grant funding has been able to bring library services to Stamford parks on summer weekends.
