Reimagined Spaces to Foster Community and Inclusivity

The Ferguson Library is committed to being an essential community resource by continuously evolving its services, spaces, and staff to meet the diverse needs of Stamford's population. Recognizing space constraints and underutilization, the library initiated an Architectural Feasibility Study in 2023 with HMA2 Architects to assess and reimagine its facilities for future growth. The study focused on improving infrastructure, enhancing customer experience, and planning cost-effective, flexible spaces that serve the community effectively now and in the future. The ultimate goal is to create spaces that promote inclusivity and community engagement.

Energy Audit and Decarbonization Report

Legacy Engineers conducted an Energy Master Plan Study for Ferguson Library's Main Library and Harry Bennett Branch to align with the State of Connecticut Climate Action Plan. The study established the library's current energy consumption, identified energy-saving measures, and developed a decarbonization roadmap by 2050. As part of the project, three all-electric HVAC systems were evaluated to replace the current fossil-fuel-reliant system, with a heat recovery chiller system being the most energy-efficient option. The library was awarded a $1.6 million ARPA grant to modernize its HVAC systems, advancing its carbon reduction goals.
