Parent Leadership Training Institute Accepting Applications

Stamford’s Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) Design Team, in partnership with the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF), will lead an in-depth leadership training class starting January to 20 to 25 selected parents, grandparents, guardians and other adults who wish to advocate for children and improve the lives of families and communities. Candidates will be selected from a pool of diverse applicants. Apply here.

The training will be offered in a hybrid model, with a virtual orientation Tuesday, January 17; in-person, all-day retreats Saturday, January 21, and Saturday, March 25; and classes Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for 20 weeks via Zoom (one monthly class will be held in person). The training, to be offered in English, is free; your contribution is your time and commitment.

Children of PLTI participants ages 5 to 12 may participate in the hybrid Children’s Leadership Training Institute (CLTI), a literacy-based curriculum that parallels PLTI’s weekly topics. Participating children will receive a new book every week.

The PLTI Design Team partnership consists of Americorps, the City of Stamford Health Department, Family Centers, Ferguson Library, the Hispanic Advisory Council, the Jewish Historical Society, Latin Colors, the Mayor's Multicultural Council, Mercy College, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Parent Teacher Council, Pitney Bowes, the Stamford Board of Realtors, Stamford Public Schools and the Stamford Senior Center.
