Web Presence and Social Media Policy

Last Updated Date

The Ferguson Library uses and participates in various social networking sites and its own website to provide services and information for the community. This policy establishes guidelines for the use and maintenance of the library’s digital presence. Digital presence includes websites or any applications that allow people to find and share information. This policy also reflects our ongoing efforts to maintain an accessible website that is usable by everyone, including those with disabilities. The library will regularly review and update our digital content to align with evolving accessibility standards and encourage feedback.

The development of web and social media presence must be aligned with the library’s mission, vision and values.

The role and utility of social networking sites, and any applicable vendors will be evaluated periodically by staff and may be terminated as deemed appropriate by the library.

The library encourages public comments and engagement on social media sites. The library is not responsible for public comments, and in accordance with Connecticut State Library guidelines may delete posts or block accounts that fall into the following categories:

  • Obscene, racist or sexist content
  • Threatening or hateful content
  • Harassment of other users or staff

The Ferguson Library is committed to ensuring users have equitable access to digital resources.
