Event Details
Master woodworker Mark Andreas will teach basic techniques needed to assemble a birdhouse using precut pieces of wood.
No prior experience necessary. All supplies will be provided. One bird house per family.
Teens and adults; attendees younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Mark Andreas is a sculptor, educator. Andreas’s art work explores the changing role of time, ecology, hand craft, technology and its impact on the present day human experience. Andreas’s artistic approach is informed by his background as a boat builder, sailor, crafts person and fascination with nature. Andreas has lectured, taught, and given workshops at Yale University, Aalto University in Finland, University of Tennessee, University of Kobe in Japan, Groningen University in the Netherlands, Atlantic Technological University In Ireland.
He is currently teaching sculpture and woodwork at Studio Andreas Woodworking in Stamford. Over the last 25 years, Andreas has exhibited his artwork both nationally and internationally with exhibitions at the Cress Gallery, University of Tennessee, Galleria Anhava Helsinki, Luda Gallery St. Petersburg, SIGN Gallery in the Netherlands, and C.A.P. Kobe Japan.
Andreas’s sculpture stands as public art in Peekskill, New York; Stockholm, Sweden; and Connemara, Ireland.
