How to Find What You're Not Looking For by Veera Hiranandani
New historical fiction from the Newbery Honor-winning author about how 12-year-old Ariel Goldberg's life changes when her big sister elopes with a young man from India following the 1967 Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court decision, which struck down laws banning interracial marriage.
This happens as Ariel's family's Jewish bakery runs into financial trouble. As change becomes Ariel's only constant, she's left to grapple with both her family's prejudice and the antisemitism she experiences while defining her own beliefs.
Refreshments will be served.
Registration required.
On Sunday, November 6 from 2 to 3 p.m., the book's author, will speak about the book, which won the 2022 Jane Addams Children's Book Award.
