Silent film star Don Lockwood falls for young studio singer Kathy Selden just as he and his delusionally jealous screen partner Lina Lamont are trying to make the difficult transition to talking pictures in 1920s Hollywood.

This film's classic song-and-dance numbers celebrate the beginning of movie musicals, and is considered among the best of its kind.
