Coming Up During Black History Month

For Black History Month 2022, the Ferguson Library has created a suggested reading list as well as planned a variety of special events. Exploring the theme Black wellness, these will include a conversation about Chasing Me to My Grave: An Artist's Memoir of the Jim Crow South by the late Winfred Rembert, and an evening with DaMaris Hill, who will discuss her book of narrative in verse, Breath Better Spent: Living Black Girlhood. Also part of the programming is the month-long Black Health and Wellness Matters art exhibit at the Dudley N. Williams, Jr. Auditorium, on view until March 4 These programs are co-sponsored by the Stamford NAACP.

Also scheduled during BHM is the South End Branch book discussion of An African American Cookbook: Exploring Black History and Culture Through Traditional Food by Phoebe Bailey, and National African American Read-In virtual story circles for all ages every Saturday.
