"Books That Shaped America" Series Now on C-SPAN

This fall, C-SPAN launched a new series, "Books That Shaped America," a partnership with the Library of Congress that explores key works from U.S. history that have had a major impact on American society. These books, available at the Ferguson Library, have provoked thought, been bestsellers, led to significant public policy changes, and are still talked about today.

Among the books highlighted in the series are: Thomas Paine's Common Sense, The Federalist by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, the first autobiography of Frederick Douglass, Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn, Willa Cather's My Ántonia, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and The Words of César Chávez. Programs feature studio guests, audience commentary and visits to locations around the country related to these famous books and their authors.

The 10-week series airs on Mondays at 9 p.m.
