Next week marks the National Friends of the Library Week, an ideal time to learn about the Friends of the Ferguson Library and all the fundraisers Friends volunteers spearhead to support library programming and its collections.
Among these events are author presentations, the annual student Literary Competition, the ever popular Pub Crawl and the Mini Golf family gathering. Proceeds from these, combined with membership fees, donations and revenue raised through the Friends Book Shops at the Main Library and the Harry Bennett Branch, fund such library programs as summer reading, book discussions, film screenings, cultural events, and the Friends' signature Book for Babies initiative, which supplies a free first book to every baby born at Stamford Hospital.
