The U.S. Congress recently enacted the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a plan of action that helps low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices. For information about eligibility, check here. To apply, check here.
To be eligible, one member of the household must meet at least one of the following criteria: has an income that is at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines; participates in assistance programs such as SNAP or Medicaid; participates in Tribal specific programs such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance; is approved to receive benefits under the free- and reduced-price school lunch program or the school break fast program; received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year; or meets the eligibility criteria for a participating broadband provider's existing low-income program.
The ACP is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Co. (USAC) with oversight from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
