The Citizenship exam is taken in English. You have to read, write and speak Basic English (Grade 3) to be able to pass an exam.

People who are 55 years old and have been permanent residents for at least 15 years and people older than 50, who have been permanent residents for at least 20 years can pass citizenship exam in their native languages.
