STAMFORD, August 7, 2014 – Thanks to a 4.2% increase in city funding, the Library will open an additional 28 hours a week systemwide beginning September 2, a 21% increase in hours of service.

“We are grateful to the city for recognizing the need for additional library hours,” said Library Board of Trustees Chair Michael J. Cacace. “The partial restoration of municipal funds that were reduced several years ago along with our fundraising efforts will make it possible for us to add to our materials collection as well.”

The new operating schedule follows:

Main Library:

Monday – Thursday 10 – 9;

Friday 10 – 6; Saturday 10 – 5;  Sunday 1 – 5

Harry Bennett Branch:

Monday & Wednesday 10 – 8;

Friday 10 – 6;

Saturday 10 – 5

Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch:

Tuesday & Thursday 10 – 7;

Saturday 10 – 5

South End Branch:

Tuesday & Wednesday 10 – 5:30;

Thursday 12 – 7; Saturday 10 – 2

Bookmobile:

Wednesday & Thursday 9:15 – 4:30

Because of steep city budget cuts four years ago, the Ferguson was forced to drastically reduce hours at the Main Library and branches. This budget, while not restoring funding to prior levels, allows the Library to reinstate those hours.
